Great news!!! Our first 3 families were submitted to the Ministry this week!!!! Congratulations!!!! (We are one of these three!)

Once dossier is received in Nepal, Adoption Guarantee Letter (AGL) will need to be issued by the US Embassy (USE) before submitting dossier to Ministry.
In order for the AGL to be issued, your I-171H (aka I-600A approval) will need to be cabled to the US Embassy located in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Your CIS office will automatically cable the approval to Nepal and mail you the hard copy. This letter will need to be notarized. The approval process can take an average of 2-3 months, so if you have your dossier completed, go ahead and turn them in so that I can forward your dossier to Nepal.

Manoj (our attorney in Nepal) will make an appt with the USE to pick up the AGL for our families. Once the AGL is issued, Manoj will submit your dossier to the Ministry. This is where the referral matching process takes place. (This is where we are now.)

The Ministry will provide us a log in number once submitted.
Once submitted, your dossier is forwarded to the legal section of the Ministry. There are 4 members in this section. They will review your dossier and present it to the "Reviewing Committee."

There are 6 members in the reviewing committee. They will review your dossier again with the legal section team. All members of the commmittee will give their final approval and then forward your case to the Family Matching Committee. (We're not quite sure how many dossiers the committee will be reviewing. In the past, they reviewed 7-10 dossiers at a time. I'll keep you posted on this.)

Family Matching Committe will complete the matching process. This is the committee where they will refer our families with a child!!!!
All medicals and pictures of the child are gathered for the families. I will be calling you with this information.

Families will have 10 business days to review the referral information. You will need to have your Dr who specializes in international adoption to review the medical reports for you. (We are fortunate to have direct access to this kind of Dr. locally!)

Once you accept your referral, all acceptance paperwork will then go back to the legal section then to the reviewing committee for their final approval.

We wait for the travel date.
